Access platforms are available from 3 service delivery
centres throughout the UK, strategically positioned to provide rapid service
response to clients operating in a wide range of industry sectors. Each
service delivery centre carries a comprehensive range of the latest powered
access equipment and is staffed by highly trained access professionals.
Our fleet has an average age of less than four years and consists of a
specifically balanced mix of the latest boom and scissor lift machines.
We can offer the flexibility of either diesel or electric power for many
of our machines, ensuring that the specified access solution is appropriate
to the required working environment. In response to the demands of the
cladding industry, we have developed the most stable and only fully automated
hydraulic cladding handling and installation system available. Self Propelled
Lifts Narrow enough to pass through a single doorway, this lift is easily
manoeuvred in tight spaces using the simple to use joystick controls.
Micro Self-Propelled Lifts Hewden’s compact electric scissor lifts are
able to pass through a single doorway and are easily manoeuvred in tight
spaces … Powered Access Equipment Training Since its inception Powered
Access Services training division has maintained the same standards which
have driven the hire divisions continued growth. Be assured that each
and every person trained by us will have a comprehensive understanding
of the Safe and Correct Operation of any machine within their chosen categories.
All our instructors are CITB registered and all have spent many years
in the industry operating machines of all types and at all levels. Our
training can be conducted both on-site or at our training centres in London
and Leicester where a full range of equipment is available. There are
two elements to each course: theory and practice. PAS's new purpose built
training rooms are fully equipped with modern visual aids. Each course
has well designed information sheets which are kept by each trainee for
future reference. This is followed by 'hands-on' experience utilising
relevant machines picked out from one of the country's most comprehensive
range of Powered Work Platforms. Training costs are reasonable and each
course lasts for one day. Certificates and cards are issued to delegates
before they leave and are valid for three years. Vocational Training and
safety related issues are complex matters so for straightforward authoritative
advice on your responsibilities PAS is one of the UK's largest independent
companies specialising in the rental and sale of Powered Work Platforms.
It has a fleet of 500 units operating from 3 large hubs in the UK, offering
a comprehensive range of equipment from the smallest scissor lift at 6m
(20ft) through telescopic booms to 47.5m (156ft) and truck booms to 62m
(205ft). PAS concentrates on providing a complete service including guaranteed
'on-time' delivery through its own transport fleet, a large modern work
platform rental fleet (average age 2 years), a dedicated service department
employing some of the most experienced service engineers available and
including one of the largest dedicated Powered Access Training departments
in the UK By controlling every aspect of its service to its customers
it offers the efficiencies necessary for profitable operation in today's
demanding business environment. This attention to detail has resulted
in above average growth for Universal and a continued determination for
substantial investment in the future of Powered Work Platform Rental.
What are Vertical Platforms? (VP's) VP's are designed for general commercial
maintenance activities in factories, distribution centres, cinemas, airports,
public buildings, supermarkets, office complexes and shopping malls. Vertical
Platforms have extremely compact stowed dimensions allowing access through
a single personnel doorway and transit between floors in passenger lifts.
Features and Benefits: Heavy duty battery power allows emission free internal
operation. Optional "sealed for life" batteries allow operation in food
retail environments. Extremely low weight and non marking tyres allow
operation on carpets, raised computer flooring and other high value surfaces.
Compact dimensions for maximum manoeuvrability including the ability to
turn within the units own length. Can be moved and operated by one person.
What are Scissor Lifts? Scissor Lifts are used where greater lifting capacities
and larger working areas are required. They may be manouvred when elevated
and single or dual extending decks increase the working area further.
Features and Benefits: A range of working heights from 6.5m(21ft) to 22m(72ft).
Deck sizes extend to a maximum of (L)7.5m(24'6") (W)2.5m(8'3") and maximum
working loads reach to 1000kg(2,200lbs) Electric emission free drive for
internal operation or 4WD Diesel Power for Rough terrain Applications.
Minimum widths of 0.8m(2'8") and tight turning radius allow operation
between racking in crowded environments. Electric Lifts have heavy duty
power packs giving extended duty cycles for long hours of operation in
multi Shift operations. Rigid Scissor Arms combine with smooth fast controls
for optimum operator confidence. Ready for elevation as a stable steady
work area within moments allowing workforce to concentrate on job in hand
rather than erecting climbing and manually moving conventional forms of
access. What are Articulating Boom Lifts? Articulating Boom Lifts (knuckle
booms) are ideal for reaching up and over floor mounted obstructions and
reaching elevated locations not easily accessed by a conventional (straight)
Telescopic Boom Lift. The lower or tower boom elevates to clear obstructions
up to 9.8m (32ft) to allow the upper straight telescopic boom unimpeded
reach to the required location. The boom's turret rotates through 360
degrees and both the lower Tower Boom and the Telescopic Upper Boom can
be operated from the Work Platform to full working height, giving a large
working envelope. Articulating Booms are driveable from the work platform
at full height and are available in either diesel 4wd or electric power
with a variety of chassis widths to allow access to both narrow industrial
aisles and crowded job sites. Features and Benefits: A range of working
heights from 11.0m (40ft) to 47.5m (156ft) 4WD Diesel Power for Rough
Terrain operation and additionally 4WS on larger models to ensure tight
manouverability on crowded job sites. Working Platforms up to 2.5m (8ft)
wide rotate 180 degrees around the end of the boom to position the operator
parallel to any working surface. Extenda Reach Tip Booms up to 3.0m (10ft)
allow overeach of obstructions. Ready for elevation as a stable steady
work area within moments of arriving on site allowing workforce to concentrate
on job in hand rather than erecting, climbing and manually moving conventional
forms of access including : Traditional Scaffolding, System Scaffolding
or Aluminium Towers. What are Telescopic Boom Lifts? Telescopic Boom (straight
or stick boom) Lifts combine maximum working height of up to 38.5m (126ft)
with exceptional outreach capacities of up to 23.5m (77ft). The machine
turret rotates through 360 degrees and the Boom elevates from below the
horizontal to near vertical giving a huge operational envelope. Telescopic
Booms can be driven and steered at any height from the work platform for
maximum operator productivity. Features and Benefits: A range of working
heights from 14m (46') to 38.5m (126') 4WD Diesel Power for rough Terrain
operation and additionally 4WS on larger models to ensure tight manouverability
on crowded sites. Working Platforms up to L 2.5m (8ft) W 0.9m (3ft) rotate
180 degrees around the end of the boom to position the operator parallel
to any working surface. Extenda Reach Tip Booms up to 3.0m ( 10ft) allow
overeach of obstructions. Ready for elevation as a stable steady work
area within moments of arriving on site allowing workforce to concentrate
on job in hand rather than erecting and climbing conventional scaffolding
systems. Aerial Work Platforms Scissors Lifts Stick Booms Articulating
